While Hospitality House employs hearing staff, we are committed to eliminate barriers to deaf survivors that chose to enter shelter. While deaf survivors have access to all the same services as a hearing survivor, the following are also available:

  • Closed Captioning on televisions

  • Visual door bell for your room

  • Visual Fire Alarms throughout the shelter

  • Bed Shaker Alarm Clock

  • Access to your preferred communication

    • Email

    • Text Messaging

    • ASL (through the use of an interpreter)

Also, with the help of the Georgia Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, we can help you gain access to telecommunication equipment for when you leave the shelter and set up permanent housing.
